I`m in love with Barcelona. The city which is beautiful every season. I was there twice and every time I want to discover this city more and more, deeper and wider, it`s full of contrast and versatile. Barcelona is always vibe, breath taking and live full and happy life.
Even so it`s not the best city in the world for vegan travelers, but not the worst. Little research before travel is good beginning, but definitely map on your cell phone will be useful, streets in Barcelona sometimes are too narrow, confused and have no numbers, you can stray for hours around the place which you are looking for. And another tip is to rent apartment on Airbnb.com instead of hotel, anyway it`s cheaper and has kitchen as huge benefit. It`s hard to find vegan breakfast or snack, better just to buy some food and treat yourself in healthy way. And take some snacks with you in case if you going to visit Tibidabo temple or going to suburb.
Here is my list of vegan and vegan-friendly places:
Carrer dels Escudellers 42, Barcelona, Spain
Sometimes it’s hard to notice this place and it could be close at daytime. But they always open in the evening. It`s located between La Rambla and El Barri Gotic. Tiny vegan take-out spot with delicious burgers and sandwiches, you also can catch amazing deserts but hurry up this stuff are so good to be out of stock fast. Some seats also available in this tiny place to enjoy your food.
Carrer de l`Hospital 74, Barcelona, Spain
Carrer del Cardenal Casanas 7, Barcelona, Spain
I`ve been in second location near La Rambla. Very vivid and colorful place with varied menu. Gorgeous wall drawing and lots of fresh green juices. Some hot dishes in menu hard to understand better to ask server but it takes time to wait your server. Wherever, food very fresh and made with love and peace. Cool place.
Carrer de Escudellers 54, Barcelona, Spain
Little bit further after Gopal. Has vegan and vegetarian dishes. Vegetalia was opened by leading Organic food manufacture in Spain. Dishes not abundant which seems little pricey. Not so many vegan options but still very tasty enough to go there.
Calle Flassaders 30, Barcelona, Spain
A splendid little gem in a former chocolate factory. Located in El Borne full of romantic and intimate atmosphere. This is vegetarian place with vegan options, ask full menu in bar, you can find soups, raw salads, amazing deserts and much more. Everything served in paper carton and biodegradable plastic. Also free
Carrer de la Bòria 17, Barcelona, Spain
Not so many bars where you can drink beer and eat vegan food, maybe not at all but in Cat bar you CAN DO IT. Cat bar is the gem made in cat-indie style with very friendly owners. Good choice of tap beer and atmosphere very alternative. Maybe the best vegan place in Barcelona. Free wi-fi.
Pintor Fortuny, 32, Barcelona, Spain
Open everyday 1PM-4PM Friday-Saturday 9PM-11PM
So good and simple food that you can wait in line during lunch time. It`s vegetarian but mostly dishes are vegan. Very fast service.
Woki Wok (WokiMarket)
1: Сarrer Asturies 22, Barcelona, Spain
2: Passeig Marítim de la Barceloneta 1, Barcelona, Spain (Barceloneta Beach)
3: Ronda Universitat 20, Barcelona, Spain
I found it while riding a bike on Passeig Maritim de la Barceloneta. You can get good selection of rice and rice noodles with tofu, veggies and sauces. Very fast and fresh food, only watch out fried egg in your dish. Don`t forget to clarify when making order. Plenty space to sit in or out on the beach and watch the navy sea. Also if you want to purchase some organic products it`s able to do in all 3 locations. In third location they have restaurant with selection of burgers, pizzas, soups, salads and wine. I wasn’t there but definitely want to visit next time.
7 locations in city check link
It`s not vegan spot but if you are very hungry will work for you. Buffet style place with huge salad bar(depends on location), not bad selection of pasta, grilled veggies and the best thing whole jar of Sangria for penny;)
La Rambla, 95, Barcelona, Spain
Carrer de Jaume I, 17, Barcelona, Spain
Carrer de Ferran, 13, Barcelona, Spain
Famous Netherlands vegetarian fast-food restaurants. They world experts in falafel and cheap delicious food. Get tons of veggies with humus in pita bread or like salad. Oh soooo good. They open till 2 AM which is perfect when you partying. The food always for take out, but in Barcelona a lot of beatiful streets to sit on a bench or on steps and enjoy yummy falafel.
And my favorite veggie burger,
Avinguda del Marquès de l’Argentera, 1 bis, Barcelona, Spain
It`s not vegan place at all but they have the best best veggie burger I`ve ever tried. You can pick your own burger without cheese or with it on deferent buns and add sauces. Take sprouts or fries and of course bottle of Mortiz beer. They open from 1PM, if come 10 minutes before opening you will see a line waiting for it.
There are still a lot of places which I`ve never been. If you know any other places, please share your experience.
Enjoy your day,
